Kullu- Tourist Place in Himachal Pradesh



Kullu, 'Valley of Gods', is a beautiful district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. This name of the valley is because it is believed that at one time it is the home for many Hindu Gods and Divine Souls. Located at an altitude of 1230 meters on the banks of the river Beas, it is known for its magnificent natural environment. The history of this beautiful hill station, discovered by Bijangamani Pal, a resident of Tripura, dates back to the first century. It is said that this region was inaccessible when India attained its independence in 1947.

➤To roam in the summer, this beautiful place is surrounded by steep hillsides, forests, rivers, and apple gardens, and is famous among tourists from all over the world for its natural beauty. Apart from this, Kullu is also famous for its ancient forts, religious places, wildlife sanctuaries and dams.

●Raghunath Temple, dedicated to the Hindu god Ram, is another major attraction of Kullu. In the construction of the temple, an ideal mix of pyramid and hill style architecture is displayed, which was built by Raja Jagat Singh in the 17th century. Another famous attraction here is the Bijli Mahadev Temple which has an important place among locals and tourists alike. Located on the banks of river Beas, it is dedicated to Lord Shiva, the Hindu god of the destruction. Travelling to Kullu gives travellers an opportunity to see a wide variety of wildlife in the Great Himalayan National Park, which is home to more than 180 species of animals. The Pandoh dam, located at an altitude of 76 meters, is built on the Beas river. This hydroelectric power producer meets the power requirements of Kullu and Manali.

●Kullu is also known for various adventure sports like trekking, mountaineering, hiking, paragliding and river rafting. Kullu is famous in India for the adventure game Paragliding. Here the ideal launch sites are Solang, Mahadev and Bir. Visitors can also mount the Hanuman Tibba, Beas Kund, Malana, Dev Tibba and Chandratal in this area.

➤Tourists can reach Kullu through important means of transport such as airways, railways and roadways.
●Kullu's nearest air base is Bhuntar Airport, which is popularly known as Kullu Manali Airport. Located just 10 km from Kullu city, the airport is connected with major Indian cities like Delhi, Shimla, Chandigarh, Pathankot, Dharamsala and others. Delhi Airport is the nearest international airport which connects tourists from other countries to the destination.
●The nearest railway station to Kullu is Joginder Nagar Railway Station, which is located 125 kilometers away from the city. The railway station is connected with other locations via Chandigarh.
●Himachal Pradesh Transport Corporation's buses connect nearby places with Kullu while Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation runs many deluxe buses for Chandigarh, Shimla, Delhi and Pathankot from Kullu.

➤Kullu's weather is always pleasant as an ideal destination for summer. However, winters are cold in this area during this time snowfall occurs. November, December, January and February are ideal for snow skiing. The best time to visit this hill station is from March to October. External activities and excursions to sightseeing are good for the period between March and June, while the months of October and November are considered ideal for river rafting, rock climbing, hiking and trekking.

BILASPUR (HIMACHAL PRADESH) Map of Bilaspur District (H.P.) Bilaspur  is a district of the Indian state Himachal Pradesh . It is situated in  Shivalik  range of lower Himalayas. It is surrounded by mountains from all sides. It is bordered by  Punjab  (an Indian state) in south and west. There is fog along the banks of river Sutlej during winter season.
