Mandi, Himachal Pradesh- A famous tourist Place




Mandi is situated in the Indian state Himachal Pradesh. It is known as Varanasi of Hills. This place is situated on the banks of the river Beas in Himachal Pradesh. This historic town was formerly known as Mandav Nagar, which was based on the name of the great sage Mandav.


➤Mandi district has a total  area of 3950 square kilometres contains 3374 villages. This district has a total population of 999,777 in which 498,065 are male and 501,712 are female. Mainly Hindi, Pahadi and Mandyali languages are spoken in this district.


➤This place is famous for the stone temple. There is more than 300 Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva and mother Kali. The ancient temples here include Panchavaktra Temple, Ardhnarishwar Temple and Triloknath Temple.

●The oldest temple in this district is Bhootnath Temple, which was constructed in 1520 AD. The Guru Govind Singh Gurudwara also attracts tourists very much.

●Mandi's Shikari Peak is a renowned tourist spot located at an altitude of 11,500 feet above sea level. This peak is devoted to mother Shikari Devi.

●The other main attractions here are Sunken Garden, District Library Building, Vijay Kesari Bridge, Pandoh Lake, Sundernagar, Prashar Lake, Rani Amrit Kaur Park, Bir Monastery and Nargu Wildlife Sanctuary. It is very popular for visitors to come here in the sanctuary where many animals like Musk deer, Himalayan black bears, cat, leopard and Himalayan palm are found.


How to reach Mandi district:
Mandi is connected to all major cities. All means of transportation are available for the arrival of the Mandi.

●Mandi is connected to Shimla, Chandigarh, Pathankot and Delhi via road. Regular buses are also available to Manali, Palampur and Dharamshala.

●The nearest railway station is at Kiratpur Sahib in Punjab from where taxi services are easily available to Mandi.

●At a distance of 60 kilometres from Mandi, Kullu airport at Bhuntar is the nearest airport of Mandi district.


Best time to visit Mandi:
Travellers are advised to visit here in the month of April to October because of the pleasant weather of this place.

BILASPUR (HIMACHAL PRADESH) Map of Bilaspur District (H.P.) Bilaspur  is a district of the Indian state Himachal Pradesh . It is situated in  Shivalik  range of lower Himalayas.
