UNA, HIMACHAL PRADESH

➥Pong Dam
Built on
Beas river, Pong Dam is considered as one of the famous attractions here. This
area is situated at 436 feet above sea level, which also boasts a wildlife
sanctuary inside it. This sanctuary serves as a safe home for many organisms,
in which you can see tiger, deer, sambar, wild boar etc. Apart from this you
can get a chance to see different bird species here. This is an ideal
destination for photography and picnics.
➥Thaneek Pura
Near Una,
you can plan a trip to Thaneek Pura hill station, Thaneek is situated near the
Chintpurni temple with an elevation of 950 meters above sea level. This hill
station is known for its religious sites and fairs, where Hindu and Sikh pilgrims
come from far and wide to join. Apart from all, Thaneek is also quite famous
for its trekking trails. During trekking, you can also enjoy spectacular

➥Chintpurni Temple
As you have
been told that besides its natural beauty, Una is also known for its religious
significance. The Chintpurni Temple located here is considered as one of the
most famous religious places here. The Chintpurni Temple is included in the
holy 51 Shakti Peetha of India, where devotees come throughout the year. This
temple is situated at an altitude of 977 meters above sea level, which is
dedicated to Hindu goddess Mother Chandi. You can come here for
spiritual-mental peace.
➥Shri Kalinath Kaleshwar Mahadev Temple
You can also
visit the ancient Kaleshwar temple near Una. It is believed that this temple is
nearly 400 years old. Originally, this temple was built by the Pandavas during
their exile, and it was entirely made by the Katoch dynasty. This temple is
dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Kaleshwar temple is also known for its Anniversary
Festival, where hundreds of pilgrims visit here to participate. This fair is
organised in the middle of May-June.

➥Darbar Baba Sahib Singh Bedi
Apart from
the above mentioned sites, you can visit the famous tourist spot of the town, Darbar Baba Sahib Singh Bedi. It is a tombstone surrounded by natural beauty. The fort is
a domed structure where you can see Indian and Afghan architecture. It is
believed that this place was the residence of the ancestors of Guru Nanak Dev
ji. Therefore, people of the Sikh community are travelling here. These were the
famous tourist sites of Una and its surroundings where you can make any excursions
at any time.
➤Best Time to Visit Una
Tourists can
visit this district throughout the year but the best time to visit is during
summer months from March to May, as at that time temperature is moderate and
pleasant.

➥By Air
There is no
airport in the district. Chandigarh and Gaggal airport near Dharamshala are the
nearest airport to this district. From there Taxis and Buses are available to reach
here.
➥By Train
There are
direct trains to Una from Chandigarh and Delhi. The Railway Station is Una
which is 1.5 kilometres from bus stand of Una town.
➥By Road
Una is
connected to all major cities by roads so you can come here by road. Regular
buses are available to this district.
